Hey everyone! Hope you all had a good NYE! My celebration was pretty lowkey, just a few friends hanging out and watching the countdown.
Me & My bestie, Carla
This morning some of my group of friends met up for brunch to ring in the New Year.
We weren't able to celebrate all together this year so it was my idea to have brunch to ring in the New Year together. I have spinach in my eggs so that's my green food to start the new year, come on big money!
Yesterday I started Week 1 of my training for my next half marathon, the Alston & Bird Corporate Cup Half Marathon on March 9, 2013. Today there was 5 miles on the schedule but it was raining, I kinda of bummed cause that meant that I might have to run it on the treadmill at the gym, arghhh...sorry I am still not a lover of the treadmill.
But then I just decided to tough it out and run in the rain!
That my friends is dedication! It really wasn't that bad, especially since I had a hat on and it was just a steady sprinkle. I was glad that I toughed it out and completed it!
Oh! I almost forgot to mention, I signed up for the Chilly Challenge and I am on Team Escapades. It's another mileage contest and since I am training I figured it would be a perfect time to participate!
After my run, I was pretty cold, so I cooked up some yummy chicken noodle soup and accompanied it with a grilled cheese. Warmed me right up!
Thanks Becca for the recipe, it was so good and so easy to make!
I also decided to prepare my breakfast for the week. I made Baked Oatmeal with Blueberries & Bananas from Skinnytaste.
Yum! If you haven't checked out this website, it's awesome! I have found some really good recipes on there!
P.S. I spent some well needed time with my goddaughter, Emerson, recently and got some great pics of her. I told you that she is starting to walk, it's so much fun!
Time has really flown by, she will be 1 year old on January 10.
I was thinking that I didn't mention a mileage goal for my running in my last post and that's because I haven't made one yet. I was blown away that I surpassed 2012's goal and so now I am conflicted on what my goal should be this year.
To be determined....
Hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve!
Did you start the year off with a run?
What is your 2013 mileage goal?

Happy New Year to you!!!!

I need to make a yearly mileage goal as well to help motivate me...
ReplyDeleteAwesome run! Brunch sounds really fun on New Years day. I certainly learned that the late night thing is not as easy as it used to be for me!

ReplyDeleteI love lowkey New Year's Eves! No frills, just hanging with a friend or two and keeping it real. Way to get out there and get in 5 miles today! So exciting that you have a half coming up in three short months!! Your goddaughter is precious and I just love the name Emerson! Glad you had a happy new year!
