Yesterday was a semi-successful day.
I was scheduled for a 9 mile run but unfortunately I didn't have time to get the entire run in.
But I did run my first race of 2013, the CRC (Charlotte Running Club) Winter Classic 8k.
It was a pretty cold day and when I got to the race, I wasn't really feeling that motivated. I was just there, mentally and physically I was somewhere else.
But once I got started running, my mind and body finally focused and was like "Oh you're running today...lol"
My Dad got a great action shot of me, actually I think this is one of my best running shots ever.
Top: Oiselle Pants: AE yoga pants Socks: Procompression
Shoes: Saucony Progrid Guides
I finished at 52:48, I was proud to accept that time!
I used the 4:30/1:00 run/walk method and I have to say it keeps my pace very reasonable and stopping to walk really helps get my energy back.
Oh my goodness, I just noticed my number is totally crooked lol
Last night I had friends over for Mexican Game night.
Everyone brought a mexican themed dish and a game to play.
Playing Apples to Apples
Frank, Carla, Me & Sarah
I had more than just 3 friends over, we just didn't take a lot of pictures! lol
It was so much fun and all the food was super yummy!
I made these nachos.
Scoops with ground turkey (cooked in taco seasoning) topped with salsa, cheese & sour cream.
Super yummy Mexican treat!
Again, this weekend I was faced with the realization that I wouldn't get my long run in. This is my second weekend, SADNESS has taken over! I was really disappointed in myself but sometimes you just don't have time and lately I have been very busy and having time for a run over an hour has just not worked for me.
But it's only the end of Week 4 so I know I have time to make up for it!
I actually did make up for missing the entire 9 miles yesterday by running an extra 4 miles today just for the heck of it! lol
What did you do this weekend?
Is it okay to split your long run between 2 days? Any advice on that?

Whatttt those nachos look amazing! That sure is a great running picture of you! Definitely a keeper :)
ReplyDeleteI would try to do the long runs all at once because the key to those is simply allowing your body to adapt to that abuse. Sometimes life gets in the way though!
ReplyDeletelove that picture of you! jill (jillconyers.com) did a really great post a few weeks ago about splitting your long runs up. i don't think it's the best thing to do, but i think it's better than not getting in the miles at all!
ReplyDeleteI think it's great to get your mileage in any way you can, but there is something to be said about doing the long run all at once. It's really the only way to get your body used to the total distance:) Mexican night sounds so fun!
