Today I headed to the gym after work for some elliptical & bike action.
Elliptical 30 min (3.22 miles)
Bike 15 min (4.16 miles)
Granted I totally forgot that it's the first Monday in January and couldn't figure out why the parking lot at my gym was sooooo full.
Oh yea...its all those people that joined the gym on January 1st. lol
Okay so here's the thing, don't get me wrong, I commend every single person for joining the gym and getting their fitness on.
But what I can't comprehend is why it has to be in January of EVERY year?!!!
Instead of making a NY resolution, how about make the decision to join the gym in March or April or heck even August lol
Who's with me??!!
Every year in January, the gym is crazy crowded and sadly the crowds thin out in March & April.

Make the commitment and keep it going!
My gym was super crowded, thankfully I do most of my workouts in the cardio cinema room away from all the crowds and socializing.
There were only about 3 people in the cardio room, thank you!
Sorry I'm not one for the crowds or working out beside 10 other people.
Sorry I'm not one for the crowds or working out beside 10 other people.
But then when I was finishing my workout (on the bike), there was a guy on the elliptical behind me and he was grunting and moaning like this workout was breaking him in half. I mean overly dramatic. I'm not sure what was going on. But I really don't want to hear moaning and groaning while I am working out lol
Okay done ranting and raving.
Sorry sometimes it happens!
Oh another note, I am just now watching Biggest Loser from last night and I LOVED how they announced the contestants. I loved seeing the surprise and joy on their faces as their names were called! I was totally crying in like the first 5 minutes lol Oh man and that first workout in the gym, holy cow! Jillian was kicking some butt.
I really like how they are making the children ambassadors for a healthier life.
I also really like that they had the children participating in the challenges with the teams. That was so great for them!
I complete agree that children nowadays need a more active life. When my sister and I were kids we didn't play video games or on the computer, we played outside. We were outside every day after school til the sun went down. It was great!
Kids are too obsessed with technology nowadays, they forget what's its like to play games outside and use your imagination.
A friend of mine said that her daughter asked her what games she played on her phone when she was little? REALLY?? Wow how times have changed....
Man, I missed BL last night - I'm gonna need to find it NOW after what you said! Awch!
ReplyDeleteYep, my gym is paaaaaaacked now a days. I'm gonna try and keep my runs outside to avoid the crowd!
I went to the gym at 4:15 today and it was already crazy! I agree, it is frustrating for people like us that have made the necessary lifestyle changes and do this all year. However, it is kind of fun to see a few new faces (some good, some real real bad). The crowds will thin out soon enough, but I take solace in knowing that I am probably motivating those around me with my hard work (I don't moan and grunt though).
ReplyDeleteI avoid the social scene too, but I also don't have the guts to go up and talk to anyone. I'm usually pretty focused on what I am doing, and I am always gross (I am training, not exercising). I love the cardio theatre because it is dark and calm.
I did a lot of crying during the BL premiere too. I completely agree about the gym. It was always that way at the Student Act. People were determined to work out and get tan for spring break and it drove me nuts.
ReplyDeleteMy gym hasn't been too bad with new combers. There are certain times of the day I know when the gym will be packed so I try my best to avoid those times. -I watched the biggest loser last night. I'm excited to see Jillian on the show again. She was showing them tough love. I just wish there wasn't soo much crying on that show.
ReplyDeleteLol @ your friends daughter! I was an outside kid too. I can't wait to take my kiddos hiking when I have them. Pack them on me and add some resistance and then when they get older they can ride their bikes beside me when I run and carry my water. I have obviously thought this over!
ReplyDeleteTotally missed Biggest Loser. Fail!!
ReplyDeleteAs for the gym in January-couldn't agree more. That guy behind you probably didn't work out since the 7th of January last year, though, so that workout probably WAS breaking him in half!! LOL!!
I totally agree about the gym thing. I try and workout at home during this time of year just because of the crowds and the newbies who don't understand gym etiquette. I also wish they would stick with it for the long haul:) Loved TBL. So glad Jillian is back!!
